The River City Gems are a nonprofit social and support group serving the crossdressing and transgender community of Northern California. We are based in Sacramento and have members from the Central Valley, the Bay Area, the Sierra Nevada, and neighboring states.

Our goal is to provide transgender individuals, their partners, and their families with opportunities to socialize in a personally affirming, safe, and supportive environment. We also strive to raise awareness of the transgender community and to promote a positive image to business owners, the media, and the general public. But most of all, we like to have fun! The joy we feel in being who we are is captured in our motto, “Celebrating Feminine Expression.”

Next Gems Event

February Social

For a full listing of all our events, click the "Upcoming Events" link on the left. The February social finds us back at an inviting and easy-to-find room at a secluded LGBT friendly location in Sacramento. This social is a pot luck. Get out your favorite pot luck recipe, take over the kitchen and whip up a dish to make Rachael Ray proud! Oh, there is one more thing – a talent show! So get out your guitar or kazoo, warm up your voice, practice your juggling or magic tricks, or put on your dancing shoes because it is show time! A few volunteers are needed to entertain one of the friendliest audiences you will ever find. Become the next Gems Idol and having a blast doing it!
