It's time once again to make your plans for an evening of
fun, food, and friendship at the River City Gems Monthly
Social. Gather with the most welcoming group around in the
relaxing atmosphere of our own private hotel banquet room.
You can count on a great meal and lots of friendly
conversation, plus prize drawings, music, dancing, and more!
Doors open at 6:30pm, dinner served at 7:30pm.
Choose from one of three delicious dinner entrees:
1) Margarita Grilled Chicken
2) Chile Pork
3) Vegetarian: Chef's Choice
Meals come with salad, bread, iced tea, dessert, and coffee.
Tax and gratuity are included for a total price of $25 per
person, payable in cash at the door. There will also be a
full no-host bar in the room, with our own bartender.
Please RSVP by noon on Wednesday, September 8.
We are required to give our meal count to the hotel 72 hours
in advance, and we can only accommodate a limited number of
late RSVPs. If you cancel after the deadline, we still have
to pay for the meals we have guaranteed, so you will be
asked to cover the cost of your meal even if you do not
attend. Cancellations prior to the deadline are not charged.
Special note: We will have a designated changing room at the
hotel so that attendees can change on-site before and after
the social. It will be available from 5:00pm. Just stop by
the banquet room to pick up a key. A hotel map will be
provided when you RSVP.

New Girls' Night Out - Shopping
Experience
Sacramento Area

If you have been wanting to go out shopping for a new
dress, shoes or makeup, but are not confident enough to do
it on your own or want some fashion advice, September's New
Girls' Night Out event is just for you. Gems member Melissa
will be taking a small group out for an afternoon of
shopping followed by an optional dinner. A shopping trip to
Arden Fair Mall or Roseville Galleria and nearby stores such
as Nordstrom Rack is planned. The exact locations will be
based on the desires of the group. The start and end times
are flexible, but be prepared to shop until you are ready to
drop. Definitely wear a pair of very comfortable walking
shoes!
The shopping group will be limited to two in addition to
Melissa. Spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served
basis so it is important to RSVP early and no later
than September 14. More details will be provided
after you RSVP. If the demand is great enough, an additional
shopping outing during the day on Friday, September 17 may
be added. Please don't assume this will happen so don't wait
until the last minute to RSVP.
There is no cost for the outing; however, you will be
responsible for your purchases, meals, drinks,
transportation, foot massages and any other personal costs
incurred during the day.
If this date does not work for you and you would like to
participate in a future outing or have an idea for one,
please let us know. We will try to plan an outing that fits
your schedule and desires.

Gems Drab Gab Lunch

The Drab Gab is a group that meets for support,
friendship, and discussion. Attendees are asked to come in
"drab" only (male attire). This group is open to anyone who
is interested, and is especially intended for those who may
not feel ready or able to attend events en femme due to
personal circumstances.
The Drab Gab will be held at a casual, affordable Sacramento
restaurant.
When you RSVP, your email will be forwarded to the Drab Gab
organizers, Sharon and Calie, who will send you the
location.

Private Fall Shopping Event at Dress Barn

Our favorite Sacramento area Dress Barn store will be
closing its doors to the public at 7pm, and welcoming the
Gems and friends for a Private Fall Shopping Event! Our
annual spring shopping events have been so popular that
members have been asking us to do it twice a year. The fall
collection is in the store now, along with lots of great
clearance items, so don't miss out!
This is your chance to try on Dress Barn's entire selection
of stylish clothing in Misses' and Women's sizes 4-24. With
skirts, pants, blouses, sweaters, jackets, dresses, and even
accessories and jewelry, Dress Barn has all the right pieces
to put together an outfit or a whole wardrobe. Everyone will
receive a special coupon good for 15% off your entire
purchase.
We'll have the whole store to ourselves, with up to three
full hours to browse, chat, and enjoy light snacks and
sparkling cider while we shop! This time attendance will be
limited to 35, to minimize wait time for the dressing rooms.
Our Dress Barn shopping trips are always among our most
popular events. The Dress Barn staff is wonderful and eager
to give each and every shopper personalized attention and
expert fashion advice. The store is located in a quiet
shopping center with plenty of parking near the entrance.
This event is for everyone, from seasoned shoppers to those
who have never shopped for women's clothing in a mainstream
store. Spouses, family, and friends are welcome too! You may
attend en femme or in drab, whichever is more comfortable
for you.
