In order to ensure the comfort and safety of all, the River City Gems have a Code of Conduct which members and guests are expected to follow. This code aims to guide us toward appropriate interaction with each other and the community, and to discourage behavior that may cause discomfort to other members or create a negative image of our organization.  All members are expected to know this Code of Conduct and to help others to adhere to it.

RESPECT:  We respect the dignity of all individuals regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, biological sex, gender identity, social role, physical appearance, presentation skills, economic status, age, or political affiliation. We refrain from making derogatory comments about other transgender persons or organizations.

PRIVACY:  We seek to protect the privacy and confidentiality of other members and guests at all times.  We never disclose a member’s legal name, phone number, street address, place of employment or any other personal information to any other individual or entity. Any member wishing to divulge personal information about him or herself to another member does so at his or her own discretion.  Information provided to the board of the River City Gems for the purposes of maintaining membership records will be kept strictly confidential.

PRESENTATION:  At River City Gems socials and events, we dress appropriately for the venue and with consideration for the other people present. Because there are so many negative stereotypes and misconceptions about transgender people, we need to be especially attentive to how our appearance and behavior reflect on our community.

ALCOHOL AND DRUGS:  Alcohol may be consumed in moderation at group events. Members or guests who attend meetings or events while intoxicated will be asked to leave. Alcohol abuse or use of controlled substances may be grounds for denial or termination of membership.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Any member taking pictures at group events must respect the desire of others not be photographed if that is their preference. Photographs of other members or guests may not be posted on the internet, published, or shared without permission from each person in the photo.

SEXUAL BEHAVIOR: The River City Gems is a non-sexual social and support group. Sexual behavior of any kind, including provocative dress or explicit language, is not permitted at our events. Any member or guest whose behavior is not conducive to maintaining a family-friendly environment will be asked to leave.

REPRESENTATION:  Only officers or members delegated by the board can represent the organization in the media or any public or private forum, or commit to future actions or financial obligations.
